From mismatched foundation shades to finding the perfect colour match, mascaras that look like false eyelashes to droopy lashes and everything in between. It would be pretty fair to say I have experienced it all. In my experience, there have been a few products that I always go back to because they deliver on their promises and never disappoint. Stay tuned to find out what they are!

1) Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
After a long day at work or just being out and about, the last thing that I feel like doing is my entire skin care routine. I just want to have a shower and climb into bed. Garnier's Micellar Water is an absolute life-saver during these desperate times. I simply soak a cotton pad and wipe off my foundation and eye makeup. Even waterproof mascaras comes off effortlessly. Dont be fooled by it's gentle appearance as this is definitely an effective and time-saving product.

2) MAC Studio Fix Foundation

A friend of mine always had completely flawless looking skin at work. I had to ask what foundation she was using and she let me in on the secret. I have always known that MAC was a favourite with make up artists because of the great shade selection across their products so it actually makes complete sense. Basically when it comes to foundations, you really cant go wrong with MAC. Their large selection of shades means you're guaranteed to find your perfect match and when your foundation matches, it looks like your real skin.

The foundation itself offers quite full coverage which will cover most imperfection and discoloration. It blends effortlessly into the skin and offers a gorgeous semi-matte finish. It also contains SPF15 which is great for daytime wear. Suitable for normal to oily skin types and my go-to foundation for special occasions when I want to look flawless.

3) MAC Studio Fix Concealer

When I look for a concealer, I want amazing coverage to hide blemishes and imperfections. This one is it. The formula is creamy and covers absolutely everything leaving my skin looking absolutely perfect. For covering blemishes, I match this to my foundation shade so it blends in seemlessly.

4) MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle
For a natural glow, MAC Mineralise Skin Finish is a godsend. I simply apply this over my foundation and powder for a beautiful cheekbone highlight. I also pop a little on my cupids bow, brow bone and inner corners to a little extra sparkle.

5) Shiseido Eyelash Curler
This eyelash curler is well known in the blogosphere as one of the best out there and I would definitely agree. It doesnt pinch my skin and always delivers a perfect curl. I love the edgy gunmetal colour that my eyelash curler came in. The only con is that Shiseido does not sell replacement rubber pads in Australia.

Spring is definitely my favourite times of the year when I can trade my monochromatic winter wardrobe for pops of colour, floral tones and prints. Speaking of updating my wardrobe, I also love to do a little spring cleaning to my beauty routine with the change in seasons. It's time to toss out that old mascara that I've just started fall for or perhaps been hanging on to for a little too long for a fresh tube.

Today I came across Rimmel's instagram to toss out my eyelash curler. Let's just say they had me from the get go. I had no clue what they were on about until I heard about a new release...

Introducing Rimmel's Super Curler 24H mascara!

So usually here in Australia, new products take a while to reach our shores (perhaps there's a lot of sea to cross or something). Being a new release in Australia and the world, I couldn't really find much information so I thought I'd share this little video. I'll definitely be searching the shelves for it as I'm a sucker for lush lashes.

Comment below if you're keen for super gorgeous curled lashes or if you would like me to review it when I get my hands on it!
To me it sounds like nothing new, highlighting and contouring has been popular since Kim Kardashian made it all the rage. Not to mention MAC strobe cream which received a lot of attention a couple of years ago. But what makes this beauty trend different is the lack of contouring which achieves a more natural look with purely highlighting only- think runway model luminous glowing skin!

MAC Cosmetics Strobe Cream

Strobing or 'reverse contouring' works by accentuating the high points which ultimately creates dimension to the face without the need for dark tones and shadows to recess your features thereby achieving a much softer effect. The forehead, down the bridge of the nose, cheekbones, temples and cupids bow are the common places which tend to hit the light naturally. Sounds perfect for an everyday healthy illuminated skin look.

It was so successful that they've managed to release not one but three palettes in the line of pigment rich yet buttery-smooth eyeshadows and attain a cult following in the beauty world. Recently, Urban Decay was acquired by L’Oréal Paris who also happens to own Maybelline New York amongst many other cosmetic brands so its not too surprising that Maybelline has come out with a similar product to the Naked palette.

Cue Maybelline's The nudes eyeshadow palette! $25.95

What Maybelline say:

Ultra-blendable pigments

Create infinite looks with bold beiges, sultry sands, brazen bronzes and over-the-top taupes

Use as duos, trios or quads

Since this palette was released in the US last year, its easy to find reviews on it. I can't really say too much at the moment except that I'm definitely keen to try it. It seems like great value with very wearable colours that I would be able to use on a daily basis regardless of whether it is a UD dupe or not.
PS. I've managed to spot the palette at my local Woolworths supermarket so it should be in most MNY stocklists very very soon! So be sure to keep an eye out for them if they interest you.

Comment below and let me know your thoughts, I'd love to hear them!
What it claims is 'gentle exfoliating formula helps clear and prevent breakouts. Contains moisturisers to help care for your skin.'

My first impression:
I thought this cleanser was nothing special. Sure it did cleanse and was gentle on my skin but I didnt see any visable improvements and I could not feel the microbeads working. Nothing amazing...yet.

But then...
I changed to another cleanser and realised the difference it had actually made. I realised it did prevent breakouts (as I have combination to dry skin I only have the odd spot every now and then). When I changed back and started to love this product completely. Although Clearasil is aimed at the teenaged and acne suffering market, I believe this to be suitable for anyone with a dry to normal complexion. While I have also tried the gel version (review on that later), this creamy cleanser was just so soothing on my skin and cleansed exceptionally well without overly drying out my skin. It did not lather so much but was the most moisturising face wash I have used to date.

My final decision:
Since it actually did prevent spots (which I am getting more of since ive run out) I would say it is true to its claims to 'penetrate deep into pores to remove dirt, oil and bacteria'. But most importantly it is super gentle even on sensitive or irritated skin. During the winter when my skin was very dry, this was the only cleanser which didnt leave my skin feeling tight before moisturising.

Recommendation from my experiences: Combination to dry skin types will love the creamy formula. (if youre oily go for the gel version)

Would I buy it again?
Definitely! For a supermarket brand (which I did not expect such a stand out product from clearasil) and even out of all the cleansers I have used before, I would say this is a very decent and effective cleanser. For the price it exceeded my expectations and is definitely worth trying (and repurchasing!)
I bought this from Woolworths for about $10 from the regimen set which includes the co-ordinated scrub. So effectively this was only $5! I would say to give this product some time to really se a difference
So Ive previously bought some ecotools brushes which were just so soft and great to use that when they come out with a new release I come running to buy it. While they probably wont hit my shores for a long time I will probably just source them from online. However recently I found out that there are fake ecotools which is quite strange since they are quite inexpensive anyway...

So back to the reason for this post! I visited the ecotools website and found out their new releases. While I wont talk about all of them (so if youre curious you can check it out for yourself), i though I would just mention the top 3 which I will hope to be buying when they are instock on my favourite site for buying my brushes (iherb).

Here goes:
1) Face and body sculpting brush.

2) Fresh and flawless complexion brush set (with super cool design!)

Flat Concealer Brush

Buffing Concealer Brush

Precisiion Foundation Brush

Complexion Blending Brush

Full Powder Brush

3) Deluxe fan brush

On another note, the 6 piece eye essential brush set looks like it has a new packaging! How exciting :) It looks alot prettier but sadly I already have this. I wish they put the beautiful green design on all the packaging (eco travel bags). Also the design looks new on all of the brushes too. They have a darker bronzed metal look with the logo stamped in. Looks very cool!

Ive been using the Real Techniques Core Collection brushes literally everyday and can honestly say they are incredible!

L- R: foundation brush, contour brush, concelaer brush and buffing brush.

The core collection contains 4 essential face brushes:

The foundation brush - small tapered tip makes it very easy to reach all parts of the face. It is my everyday foundation brush, hence it is a little dirty. Can be used with liquid foundation, cream products and also great for precise application of highlighter. It's soft yet dense enough to avoid streaks.

Contour brush - Multipurpose and very useful for applying highlighter, bronzer and blush. I also use this for powder sometimes because it provides a super light and even finish (my favourite of the lot). Makes blending a treat!

Concealer brush - the precision tip makes concealing blemishes a breeze. It is an absolute dream to blend so evenly without using your fingers hence a very airbrushed finish. The density of the bristles is a bit heavier than the foundation brush so disperses alot more product. It can also be used as a detalier eye brush or lip brush.

Buffing brush - the flat top makes buffing powders and mineral foundations into the skin very easy and smooth. I am really fond of the fluffiness and softness of the bristles which disperses a good amount of product which can be built to a fuller coverage. It is also great for stippling and blending in liquid foundations and just buffing everything in.

So thats my run down of all the brushes. As always, I am going to finish off with a quick pro's and con's list.

PROS:
- A very very soft and fluffy synthetic bristles, not scratchy at all
- Brushes do not shed
- The foundation brush does not absorb liquid products

- Suitable if you want basic affordable brushes or to supplement your kit
- Case easily fits another 5-6 brushes and stands (loving the case!)
- Great for travel
- Feels sturdy and easy to use

CONS:
- Foundation brush is very small and slim

- Why weren't these made earlier?! they are soo good!

One more thing the stand is completely genius and unique to this product! It is soo functional and I really like that the elastic is firm enough to fit more brushes. I just like to keep my everyday eye brushes and a lip brush with this and leave it standing. Its just so very cool.
Here's what it looks like:

My very first review featuring.... drumroll please... Rimmel London's BB cream!
For Aussie beauty lovers, it is soo exciting to finally get to try out a product before the rest of the world. This BB cream is a relatively new product to join the market and has already become one of my everyday favourites.

Rimmel London's BB Cream in Medium

My first impressions:

- The tube looked small and only contained 30 mls (however, a little definitely goes along way)
- The consistency is quite thick (covers most redness and minor blemishes, however scarring and undereye circles may require concealing after)
- Provides medium coverage

In comparison to Garnier's BB which I have tried, this one has a different finish. While it claims to mattify, it does not provide totally matte finish but more of a natural satiny smooth finish which I really like. It works reasonably well in controlling moderate oil on the t-zone. On combination - dry skin, by the middle of the day (4-5 hours later) I usually find my nose area feeling oily with other products but this held up until the afternoon for me about 8 hours. However if you have oilier skin you may need a little bit of powder over the top.

The only concern was the colour match. Light was a yellow toned pale shade while medium was a pink - orange toned darker colour. In a perfect world I would fit somewhere inbetween (for reference I am a MAC NC30-35) but low and behold there was nothing in between. Medium was the closest shade for me as light looked way too pale (but had the correct undertone!). Luckily once blended the undertone is not too noticable.
PROS:

- SPF25 is great for summer (although spf does need to be reapplied after a couple of hours)

- True to claims (primes, moisturises, minimises pore, conceals, covers, smoothes, mattifies, brightens and helps to protect! )
- very pretty finish, not dewy or matte but an in between satin like finish
- great for sensitive, dry and combination skin and didnt break me out or adhere to dry spots
- great staying power even without powder

CONS:

- very little tube (30 mls seems small in my hand)

- oxidises slightly after appilcation
- shades will not suit every skin tone (light, medium & dark)
- may be too thick for some people
- may not provide enough oil control for oily skin, easily fixed with powder!

RRP: $12.95
I remember my first tube of Lip Smackers which was the very first item that I considered to be makeup and also the time that I was introduced to a Kajal Eyeliner Pencil. It was a totally life-changing moment. But since then, the beauty industry has evolved and is constantly changing with many new products, brands and technology. Often it can seem impossible to find the right product for you amongst a sea of different product offerings. I have decided to start this blog to document my adventures in the name of beauty and hopefully also help out some fellow beauty lovers through sharing my experiences. So stay tuned for plenty of beauty inspiration, reviews, new product releases and lots more.
